Meet Dr. John Costello

Dr. John Costello, Jr.

John Costello, Jr., D.O., F.A.O.C.O. returned to Central New York from Doctor’s Hospital/Ohio University in Columbus, Ohio where he served as the chief ophthalmology resident.

He served as a clinical instructor for Ohio University and currently works in the same capacity in Syracuse on the faculty at the State University of New York Upstate Medical College and Health Science Center. Both he and his brother work with the ophthalmology residents at Syracuse.

He has received additional specialized training from Harvard University’s Massachusetts Eye & Ear Infirmary and the Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio.

Dr. Costello completed his internship at the Osteopathic Medical Center of Philadelphia and St. Agnes Medical Center where he was chief intern. He earned his medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Dr. Costello is board certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Ophthalmology and Otorhinolaryngology and a Fellow of the American Osteopathic College of Ophthalmology and Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He is also a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.

Dr. Costello is a native of Oneida. He went to college at St Lawrence University in the New York “North Country.” He enjoys water sports, downhill skiing, golf, and spending time with his family.
