Dr. Scott J. Bushinger, O.D., M.S., F.A.A.O. has over 15 years of experience in comprehensive primary eye care and surgical co-management. Born and raised in the Utica area, Dr. Bushinger completed his undergraduate studies at Utica College of Syracuse University, graduating summa cum laude. In 2007, he received his doctorate and masters in Vision Science at The State University of New York College of Optometry in Manhattan, graduating with honors as a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Society. Externship rotations included Ocular Disease and Glaucoma care at the St. Albans VA Hospital in Jamaica, Queens and the Pediatric Clinic at the University Eye Center in Midtown Manhattan.
As an active member of the American Optometric Association, Dr. Bushinger has served as District Leader for the Mohawk Valley Chapter and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. In 2015, he received Board Certification and Diplomate status with the American Board of Optometry. Additionally, to support the growth and development of students entering the eye heath field, Dr. Bushinger volunteered on the Advisory Committee for the Health Professions at Utica University and is a member of the Family of Mentors program at the SUNY College of Optometry.
Outside of the office, Dr. Bushinger enjoys volunteering as Set Leader for the annual Vision Expo East Rock4Sight benefit concert at the Hard Rock Cafe in NYC. For fun, Scott enjoys playing golf, hockey, and exploring hiking trails with his wife Halina and their rescue dog, Gigi.
